BADLY DRAWN MATCH REPORT #6 - MANCHESTER UNITED vs DERBY COUNTY

Ed Woodward's conference call with investors prior to the match seemed to go smoothly.

But there was turmoil behind the scenes as Jose exerted his authority by stripping Paul Pogba of vice-captaincy

On the pitch things started brightly with United taking the lead within three minutes. Professional nice guy Juan Mata put the home side ahead finishing off a good team move.

Unfortunately, it did seem to be one of those nights for Romelu Lukaku who couldn't find the net despite being presented with more than reasonable opportunities. His dip in form remains puzzling, right Juan?

Derby though fought back & leveled the tie with an outrageous free kick from Harry Wilson. Sergio Romero, tired of bailing his defense, kicking poorly & conceding a worldie took matters into his own hands.

Lee Grant came on but United conceded a 2nd goal 5 minutes before the end. It took a Marouane Fellaini stoppage time goal to take the tie to penalties. Credit to Fellaini as he didn't stop in amazement at the sight of decent cross coming in from the right, a rare sight at OT.

Phil Jones, learning from his experience against Sunderland, placed his penalty low. Alas he forgot the part about beating the keeper & Derby County advanced to the 4th round of the Carabao Cup at Utd's expense. But at least the app is popular, right?
